We came from far…Laguna Beach and Greenville, SC…and near to gather Sunday afternoon, October 4, at City Foundry STL. Ginny Gilbert Wheeler, Libby and Steve Dasbach were our distance travelers but others made the trek to the event to fill in their nametags (most helpful!), fill out a questionnaire about what type of event we’d like for our 60th reunion, and talk with familiar and semi-familiar faces about our shared experiences at WGHS.
Conversations, aside from inevitable aches, pains and medical updates, included updates on the homes in which we grew up. A wrap around porch added by new owners, a sadness at selling the growing up home when it didn’t make sense for the remaining siblings, joy at moving back to Webster, new skills in gardening, helping to raise grandchildren were all part of the conversations during the afternoon.
The attached pictures tell the story. Yes, we’re older, we have lived our lives in so many places like the classroom, the pulpit, writing insurance, running for offices, building offices, designing the buildings around the offices, toiling in the hospital trenches, serving our country and helping keep our streets safe. We have left our legacies with our jobs, our careers, our children and grandchildren. We are still making a difference in so many ways and we’re all planning to keep making a difference! But we never forget….WE ARE THE STATESMEN OF WEBSTER HIGH!
Watch your emails. Class updates happen when we know about them. We’ll begin working on our 60th reunion (!!) in…a while.
